2 arrested, 2 cited in Petaluma alcohol, tobacco sting

Two men were arrested and two men were cited Friday during a sting aimed at catching adults purchasing alcohol and tobacco for minors.
Decoys assigned by the Petaluma Police Department stood in front of alcohol retail establishments Friday and asked customers to buy them alcohol and tobacco.
Robert Evans, 46, also a transient, purchased alcohol for a minor and was found to be on probation with two outstanding warrants, according to police. He was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
Juan Garcia Perez, 58, of Petaluma purchased alcohol and was later determined to be driving under the influence, police said. He was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
A 57-year-old transient purchased alcohol for a minor, according to police and was ticketed, while a 62-year-old Petaluma man purchased tobacco for a minor and was ticketed to appear.
The sting was conducted through a partnership between the Petaluma Police Department and the Healthy Community Consortium.
