Casa baseball team loses in last inning

Maria Carrillo rallied for two runs in its last try to defeat the Casa Grande High school baseball team, 3-2, Thursday afternoon in a rain-delayed start to the North Bay League season for both teams.

Casa Grande scored twice in the first inning off Maria Carrillo pitcher Zach Scott, but got no more the rest of the game. Maria Carrillo answered with a run in the bottom of the opening inning, but didn't score again until its winning rally in the seventh.

Eric Parnow and Spencer Torkelson each had two hits for he Gauchos, with Torkelson doubling and driving in a run. Nate Bills drove home the second Casa first-inning run with a double. Taylor Gomez and Isiah Ayala each had hits for the Gauchos.

The loss was the third straight for the Gauchos, who are now 7-3 for the season, with a game scheduled for this afternoon at Windsor.
