Repairs on a large sinkhole in a southbound Highway 101 lane near Petaluma were finished before 3 p.m., according to the CHP.
Initial reports had the repairs lasting into the evening commute, requiring the loss of a southbound lane.
Both lanes were open by about 2:45 p.m.
The hole appeared late Thursday morning in the fast lane between San Antonio Road and the nearby Sonoma-Marin county line.
The fast lane was closed for at least three hours or so for crews to work on the hole.
