The Casa Grande High softball team continued its late-season run of outstanding play, rolling over Rancho Cotate, 10-0, Tuesday afternoon in a game that was called after six innings by the 10-run rule.
Shelby Foakes shut Rancho down on just three hits. She walked only one and her teammates played errorless defense behind her. She induced Rancho Cotate batters to hit 13 balls into the air for outs.
There were many contributors to Casa Grande's 12-hit attack, led by Sara Langdon, who had three hits, scored a run and drove home two. Kayleigh Hart and Christina Wilson each had two hits and each scored a run, with Hart driving home two and Wilson one. Sammy Sievers had a hit and drove in a run; Lisa Nadell doubled and drove in a run; and Alyssa Curtis singled, contributed a nice sacrifice bunt and drove home a run.
The win improved Casa Grande to 5-12-1 on the season and 4-8 in North Bay League play with three games, two in league, left on the Lady Gaucho schedule. Casa Grande plays at Cardinal Newman Thursday, hosts Redwood in a non-league game Friday and finishes up with a home game against Montgomery on Tuesday.
