Update: Garbage truck overturns on Adobe

The driver of a garbage truck failed to see the stop sign at the intersection of Adobe Road and East Washington Street late Tuesday morning, which caused him to swerve to avoid traffic and overturn his truck.

Martin Pimentel, 46, of Santa Rosa, was driving a Redwood Empire Disposal truck northbound on Adobe Road at speeds approximated at 50 mph.

The CHP press release said it appears that Pimentel did not see the stop sign at the intersection of East Washington Street, and slammed on the brakes, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The truck skidded, overturned and stuck a stop sign and light pole.

Pimentel suffered moderate injuries to his arm and leg and was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital. The truck was not loaded at the time of the collision.

Traffic control is still in effect at the intersection as of noon on Wednesday, while the truck is up-righted. Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area.
