Local businesses and townspeople go all out in dressing Petaluma for the holidays, generating a great deal of enthusiasm within the community.
This sesquicentennial year, the excitement runs high as the community prepares to put the finishing shine on the yearlong celebration of Petaluma?s 150th birthday. The colorful lights, imaginative decorations and the excitement of viewing the spectacular entries attract lots of visitors to Petaluma who will get an extra treat this year as the 150th birthday celebration contributes to the traditional festivities.
During the holiday season, downtown Petaluma, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is traditionally abundantly lighted as businesses compete for decoration honors. Many of the homes in neighborhoods throughout the city are lavishly decorated too.
