Bulldog girls kick to Holiday Cup victory

The under-12 Petaluma Bulldogs girls won the 2012 Holiday Cup at the Sports City indoor soccer center in Santa Rosa. The Bulldogs won all four of their games, outscoring their opponents, 18-5.

They beat Santa Rosa United, 3-1, then the Rohnert Park Warriors, 4-0. In the third game, the Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 to another Santa Rosa United team, before storming back with five unanswered goals to win, 5-1.

This set the stage for the final match between two unbeaten teams, the Bulldogs and the Tahuichi Girls.

The Bulldogs scored first, but it became a seesaw game, with the Bulldogs trailing, 3-2, early in the second half. The Bulldogs then scored four unanswered goals to beat Thuichi, 6-3, and win the championship.

Bulldogs participating in the Holiday Cup were Emily Armas, Aubrey Babala, Hannah Bauer, Gizela Carranza, Crystal Carreras, Lilly Catarozoli, Samantha Dedrickson, Megan Hanley, Lauryn Langston, Delia Reif and Samantha Schaefer.

Next goal for the Bulldogs is the California Youth Soccer Association's big Association Cup Tournament.
