Petaluma man arrested for crashing car into other vehicles while under the influence

A Petaluma man was arrested Wednesday night for crashing his car into other vehicles while under the influence of drugs, Petaluma Police said Thursday.

Police say the arrest occurred after a witness called in to report that he was following a silver Volkswagen Passat, which he believed had just been in a crash on D Street. The witness described the VW as being freshly damaged, and he had also seen a freshly damaged Nissan truck on D Street.

The witness caught up with the VW just in time to watch it strike another car, a parked Ford Ranger, on Bassett Street.

Responding officers stopped the VW at B Steet and Fair Street.

Kevin M. Odea, 56, of Petaluma, was driving the vehicle, police said.

He was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital for injuries and released on a citation to appear.

Police are asking anyone with further information on the collisions to call the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372.
