Soul singer Lester Chambers — father to Midnight Transit lead singer Dylan Chambers — was attacked on stage during a concert in Hayward Saturday evening, after dedicating a song to slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

Hours after George Zimmerman was acquitted of Martin's murder, Chambers was performing a cover of the Curtis Mayfield song "People Get Ready" at the Haywood-Russell City Blues Festival. Right after he made a reference to Martin, 43-year-old Dinalynn Andrews Potter reportedly leaped from the crowd. She jumped on stage, shouting, "It's all your fault," and shoved the 73-year-old singer to the ground.

People nearby subdued Andrews Potter and Hayward police took her into custody. She was arrested on suspicion of battery and released with a citation to appear in court.

The Chambers family is reportedly considering filing hate crime charges as well.

Chambers was taken to the hospital and treated for a bruised rib muscle and nerve damage.
