Petaluma's Team Barcelona under 12 boys soccer team was on fire in the Founders Cup Tournament in Ripon, winning three straight games and finishing second.

Ian McKissick helped start Team Barcelona right, scoring the game's only goal in a 1-0 opening win over the Hayward Jaguars. McKissick's goal was assisted by Christian Lopez.

Ian Getting pulled a hat trick with three goals in a 4-1 win over the Woodland/Sacramento Chelsea. Lopez scored the other Petaluma goal.

In the semifinals, Barcelona slipped by the Roseville Hammerhead, 2-1, with Lopez and McKissick scoring the goals. McKissick's goal came on a break-away near the end of the game.

In the championship game, Barcelona fell behind, 3-1, at halftime, but cut the lead to 3-2 early in the second half. Petaluma had several chances to tie the game, but the Pumas closed it out with three more second-half goals. McKissick scored both goals for Barcelona.

"Throughout the whole tournament we played well," said coach Jose Bermudez. "Everyone went out onto the field and gave 110 percent every game. They played the best soccer I have seen.

"In my eyes, these boys are champions even if they don't have a first-place trophy. I look forward to coaching these boys again next season.
