Casa Grande High School's boys basketball team avenged a first-round North Bay League loss by beating Ukiah at Ukiah Thursday night, 54-51.

Playing on their home court, Ukiah's Wildcats jumped out to a 14-6 first-quarter lead, but Casa Grande rallied to close the gap to 26-24 by halftime and led 40-38 at the end of three quarters, pulling out the win in a hectic final period.

Cetrick Yeanay led the Casa win with 20 points, with Jake Ielmorini adding 14. Frankie Garcia was high for Ukiah with 18.

The win followed a 49-34 Casa victory over Windsor earlier in the week.

Casa Grande grabbed a 12-6 opening-quarter advantage, but faltered in the second quarter and trailed at the half, 25-23. Casa's defense ruled in the second half, holding Windsor to seven points in the second period and just two in the third.

Kyle Kaupe had his best all-around game of the season for the Gauchos with 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Jon Christy and Ielmorini helped the Gauchos dominate the backboards, with each grabbing seven rebounds. Christy scored nine points and Ielmorini eight.

The Gauchos are 13-10 on the season and 5-6 in North Bay League play, with Rancho Cotate coming into the Coach Ed Iacopi Gymnasium on Monday.
