Residents without power after driver crashes into power pole on Skillman Lane

  • Just before 1 pm Friday 08/16/13 an automobile traveling west on Skillman Lane, hit the third power pole from Liberty Rd. on the north side. A single female driver was arrested held for further determination of drug or alchol.

At least six households were without power Friday afternoon after a woman crashed her car into a power pole on Skillman Lane near Liberty Road.

The crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. and left the pole hanging over Skillman Lane, according to initial CHP reports. Those reports also indicated that the driver of the car exited her vehicle and was jumping over the downed, live power lines.

CHP Officer Will Brown confirmed that a woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI but could not provide a name as of 4:45. He added that units were still at the scene at that time.

PG&E arrived shortly after the crash and was attempting to restore power to nearby residents.
