Petaluma police seek man who fired shots into air downtown

Gunshots in downtown Petaluma early Sunday morning rattled nerves, but apparently little else.

Petaluma police responded at 12:47 a.m. to investigate the gunfire. Bar patrons directed officers to the intersection of Washington and Kentucky streets where three .40 caliber shell casings were found.

A witness described seeing the passenger in a black Lexus sedan with 24-inch chrome wheels fire three rounds in the air.

The car was last seen entering Highway 101 northbound from East Washington Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Ryan McGreevy at 778-4372.
