Argus-Courier schools page to debut next week

The Petaluma Argus-Courier is excited to announce the kickoff of its School News page next week, in the Sept. 12 issue of the paper. This new feature will be full of information on local schools, student achievements, events and more.

Look for the page in the B section, where you'll find a weekly column on school-related news, events and people; a weekly opinion piece by a high school student and more. Petaluma resident and mom Maureen Highland will be the weekly schools columnist. Born in San Francisco and raised in Marin, she moved to Petaluma when she married Steve Highland. Together they have three children — one in college, one in high school and another in junior high. Highland started her career in marketing in San Francisco before becoming a freelance consultant once she had children. She currently works as development manager at Petaluma Educational Foundation, which provides support to all 37 local K-12 public, private and charter schools in the Petaluma area. Working there, she said, "fulfills a passion to support the community we have chosen to raise our family while giving back in a way that empowers the next generation to be the best they can be."
