Police are investigating a body found in Willowbrook Creek Thursday afternoon.

The body, described by police as decomposed, was found in the creek near the 5400 block of Old Redwood Highway after someone placed a call regarding the body at shortly after 2 p.m.

It is the second body to be discovered in Petaluma within the last month. On Aug. 16, the badly decomposed body of an adult woman was found on McNear Peninsula. Police have not yet released the identity of the woman, but have said that it appears she did not die under suspicious circumstances.

The body found Thursday appeared to have been there for several days, police said in a press release. Detectives will be reviewing any local person cases and contacting people who frequent the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Petaluma Police Department at 778-4372 or call the PPD Crime Tips at 781-1200.
