Polishing the diamonds

Petaluma Girls Softball Association board memers and volunteers have been diligently working to get fields and softball diamonds ready for the 2013 softball season.

Mark Hale, the association's Major League chair and equipment co-chair has organized a few work weekends at Prince Park, Leghorn Park, Wiseman Park and Kenilworth Junior High to replace backstops, clean dugouts, repaint benches and clean leaves and debris from surrounding areas. Last season, PGSA spent more than $30,000 on construction, maintenance and clean-up on fields in city-owned parks.

The clean-up efforts benefited from contributions from C. Hardy, Abel Fencing, Petaluma Refuse and Recycling, Ghilotti Brothers, Gordan Cato Landscaping and Friedman Brothers.
