The Petaluma City Council will meet Monday evening to discuss renewing City Manager John Brown's five-year contract, which expires on April 1.
Brown has already been through two closed session performance evaluations with the council, and will most likely be re-signed to a new contract with the city.
Brown, who was hired to replace Mike Bierman in 2008, came to Petaluma after the economic downturn and has spent much of his tenure looking for ways to cut spending from the city's general fund budget.
According to Brown, he will not be seeking a raise to his annual $208,000 salary. He will be asking for a longer contract this time around — long enough to take him through his anticipated retirement date of about six years from now.
The council will also be announcing appointments to city boards commissions and committees at Monday's meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. at City Hall at 11 English Street.
