Suspect involved in Santa Rosa machete attack arrested in Petaluma

Sonoma County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Thursday afternoon in connection with what they called an unprovoked machete attack a day earlier that hospitalized a man with serious stabbing and slashing wounds.

Adam Jordon Faustino, 32, of Santa Rosa was taken into custody without incident around 1 p.m. in his truck in the parking lot of the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, Sgt. Carlos Basurto said.

Detectives were seeking Faustino in connection with the attempted murder of Alan Evans, 35, on Wednesday in a house on Hall Road near Willowside Road, west of Santa Rosa.

Faustino is suspected of attacking Evans after an argument at Evans' home. The two acquaintances were inside the house for some time after the argument when Faustino suddenly began slashing at Evans, Basurto said.

It was not clear what the earlier argument was about, but the attack "was unprovoked," Basurto said.
