It's said that the most important meal of the day is breakfast, so when it came to preparing a morning meal for last week's Bay Area visit by President Barack Obama, the very best ingredients were chosen — some from Petaluma.

The brunch was held in Atherton and featured yogurt from Petaluma's own Straus Family Creamery topped with organic granola and berries as an "appetizer."

The brunch's main item was an open-faced gravlax sandwich on sprouted rye bread, served with asparagus tips drizzled with grapefruit oil from Petaluma-based O Olive Oil and topped with some smoked bacon.
