The St. Vincent High School softball team knocked off another larger school Wednesday afternoon, defeating Healdsburg from the Sonoma County League, 18-6, in a five-inning game.
Hannah Sarlatte pitched the win, scattering five hits.
Healdsburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead before St. Vincent could get to bat. Once at the plate, the Lady Mustangs flexed their muscles, scoring two runs in the first, seven in the second and six in the third, while Sarlatte was stopping the Lady Greyhounds. After Healdsburg scored three runs in the top of the fourth, St. Vincent came back with three in the last of the inning, insuring a five-inning game.
Ursyla Baumgarten had another big plate day for St. Vincent, going three-for-four with a triple, scoring three runs and knocking in two. Hannah Upton had two hits and scored four runs. Rainey Henry had three doubles and knocked in three runs and Izzy Velez swatted two his, scored a run and knocked in two.
The win improved the North Central League II unbeaten Lady Mustangs to 10-8 on the season. St. Vincent is 6-0 against league foes.
