St. Vincent plays for NCL II title

The St. Vincent High baseball team cleared the way for its showdown game with Sonoma Academy by thumping Rincon Valley Christian, 14-1, Tuesday afternoon.

The win gave St. Vincent a 16-4 overall record and a 8-1 North Central League II mark. Sonoma Academy is 13-6 overall and 8-1 in league. The leaders conclude the NCL II season with a game at Doyle Park in Santa Rosa on Friday at 5 p.m.

Arman Yektaparast led a 17-hit St. Vincent attack in the five-inning game, going three-for-three with five RBIs. George Sammon also had three his and drove home four runs. Winning pitcher Alex Neve and Michael Carroll each had two hits.

St. Vincent blew the game open with nine runs in the second inning.
