Body found on Sunday

The unidentified body of an adult man was found Sunday afternoon near the railroad tracks in Petaluma. There was no apparent cause of death, and police are looking for information as to who the man is, and how he died.

At about 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 15, Petaluma police got a call from a person who suspected there might be a dead body near the railroad tracks on Caulfield Lane. After searching the area, police did find a body, and called the Sonoma County Sheriff's Coroner, which will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Police are hopeful the coroner will also be able to identify the body.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call Detective Stemmer at the Petaluma Police Department at 778-4372.
