Penngrove woman among newest astronauts

By STAFF AND WIRE REPORT

A Penngrove woman is one of eight new astronauts selected Monday by NASA — its first new batch in four years.

Nicole Aunapu Mann, 35, is a major in the U.S. Marine Corps and currently serves at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Md., where she is an F/A 18 pilot and leads the integrated product team.

Mann, who lists Penngrove as her hometown, is the first female fighter pilot to become an astronaut in nearly two decades.
