The Casa Grande boys basketball team got off to a bad start, but bounced back quickly before losing to Miramonte, 58-52, in the Don Bambauer tournament being played at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield.
Miramonte was sizzling hot in the first quarter, building a 23-12 lead, but the Gauchos bounced back with a 17-point second period, while holding Miramonte to just eight points. At the half, Miramonte's lead was a tenuous 31-29. The Gauchos stayed with the Matadors through most of the second half, but a 10-point fourth quarter decided the issue.
Will Crain continued to play well for the Gauchos, scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds. Jack Micco had his best game of the season with 14 points, hitting four 3-point shots. He also grabbed seven rebounds. Cetrick Yeanay added 10 points.
Casa was to play Napa this morning at 9:30.
