Police seek public's help identifying another bike thief

Petaluma Police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspected bicycle thief caught on video stealing a $300 black bike from a residence in the 100 block of Vista View Place on June 3.

According to the video provided by police, a male suspect between the ages of about 18-30 wearing black pants, a black jacket over a purple, hooded sweatshirt, a black hat and a black and purple backpack, approached the front entryway of the residence where the bicycle was parked. He examined the bicycle and walked away for a moment. The suspect then returned and took the bicycle. The video is time-stamped at about 6:20 a.m. on Monday, June 3.

Petaluma Police are asking that anyone with information about this incident call Officer Brian Miller at 778-4372.

Police are also reminding local bicycle owners to lock up their bicycles, take photographs and write down the serial numbers for

identification purposes, as a rash of bike thefts has occurred in town recently. Since June 1, the department has received 17 bicycle theft reports.
