New bus service to 49ers? games will include a stop in Petaluma

Shuttle service to 49er games from the North Bay will switch this fall from Golden Gate Transit to Sonoma/Napa-based California Wine Tours. California Wine Tours will provide shuttles departing from Larkspur, Sonoma, Santa Rosa, Napa, Vallejo and now Rohnert Park and Petaluma.

A ride on the California Wine tours 49ers Fan Express will cost between $25 and $30 roundtrip and includes complimentary water, free high-speed Internet access, restrooms and a luxury motor coach.

Mike Marino, president and CEO of California Wine Tours, says also provided will be fun.

?Not only are riders going to reduce their carbon footprint by riding the shuttles, we are also going to make the bus rides fun,? he said.

While riding to the game, fans will be able to view 49es? game highlights, Super Bowl replays and other NFL productions. There will be raffles for 49ers memorabilia and gift certificates and a grand raffle prize for the final game that includes a private limo ride for four, four tickets to the game and a tailgate party.

Marino explained that the change was made because new federal bus charter regulations no longer allow public- transit organizations to provide transportation for charters. Golden Gate Transit has been providing the service for 30 years.

?The staff at Golden Gate Transit has been very helpful in getting out the word that California Wine Tours is now the source for North Bay fan shuttles,? said Marino. ?It is impressive to see the teamwork that is taking place all over the Bay Area, as we all work together to transition these shuttles away from public transit authorities to the private sector.?
