Fire Calls

The Petaluma Fire Department received 27 medical and 66 fire or other emergency calls from September 17 through September 23. Here are some of the incidents that the department responded to.

Monday, September 17

8:40 a.m. —?Firefighters went to Adobe Road in Penngrove for a vehicle accident involving a big rig on its side. The driver had pulled herself out and was complaining of back pain. She was taken to the hospital.

Friday, September 21

7:11 a.m. — Units were called out to Lakeville Highway at South McDowell Boulevard for a two-car accident. Two people had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

5:13 p.m. — Firefighters went to Southbound Highway 101 at the Penngrove offramp for an accident involving a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital.

Saturday, September 22

6:20 p.m. —?Firefighters were sent to a passenger vehicle fire on Highway 101 North across from the auto mall. A Ford F-250 was pulled off the road and fully engulfed in flames. The driver was standing with a bystander about 30 yards from the truck. The driver said he was not injured and explained that he was driving down the highway when his truck stopped. As he pulled to the side of the road, he realized that everyone was honking at him, then noticed the fire coming out of the engine compartment. No cause for the fire was immediately identified. The truck was extinguished and towed.
