After a couple of scrimmages and a foundation game, Petaluma High School's girls basketball team opened its season with an impressive 41-37 win over Novato.

The difference in the close game was a 20-point final period for Petaluma's T-Girls.

Joelle Krist led the T-Girls with 10 points, with Kierra Lizama adding eight, Sophie Bihn six and Katy Bisges five. Allison Scranton pulled down 11 rebounds and Bisges nine for Petaluma.

Novato's Maddie Tomsky was a dominant factor in the middle for Novato with 17 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

Petaluma will play in the Anne Scott Tournament at Drake High School in Terra Linda this week, opening Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Tamalpais.

Drake and Fairfield are the other teams in the tournament which runs through Saturday.
