The Petaluma Bulldogs under-12 girls soccer team finished play in two leagues, taking second place in both NorCal under-12 Silver and CCSL under-14 Bronze age groups.
In the NorCal under-12 league, the Bulldogs finished with six wins, one loss and one tie, good enough for second place just behind Santa Rosa which finished 6-0-2. The Bulldogs outscored its under-12 opponents, 14-4.
The team also played in the CCSL league, playing up two full age groups to under-14 against older, bigger and more physical teams. In this division, the Bulldogs finished with five wins, two losses and one tie, outscoring its under-14 opponents 16-7.
Both losses were against a stronger and bigger Rohnert Park team. Their second meeting was a 2-1 nail-biter, with the Bulldogs barely on the short end.
The Bulldogs' final game was against another bigger, more dominant Mendocino team, but the Bulldogs pulled off a stunner, winning 1-0 to clinch second place in the division.
The second-place finishes were an outstanding accomplishment for the Bulldogs, who are only in their second season.
In their first season last year, the Bulldogs finished first in the under-11 Bronze division, going a perfect 10-0 and outscoring its opponents 35-2.
