A Vallejo woman killed Saturday night when her car was hit by a driver suspected of drinking was Betty Osotonu, 65, according to the Sonoma County Coroner's Office.

Osotonu and her eight-year-old daughter were traveling on Lakeville Highway at about 10 p.m. when another driver crossed into their path and hit them head on, according to Petaluma police.

The mother died at the scene and the child was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Driver Jesse Cockrill, 25, of Petaluma had critical injuries and also was hospitalized.

Cockrill had an open bottle of alcohol in his car and smelled of booze, according to police. A toxicology test is pending to determine if he was illegally intoxicated.
