Brews and Bites for Petaluma Bounty

If sampling food, cold brews and toe-tapping tunes all for a good cause sounds like a great way to spend an evening, then check out Brews and Bites for Bounty, a fundraising event for Petaluma Bounty held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 at Lagunitas Brewing Co.

The event features a photographic "pop-up" art show on the Lexicon of Sustainability by Douglas Gayeton. He and Laura Howard-Gayeton live on a farm where Howard-Gayeton has founded Laloo's, the nation's first goat milk ice cream company.

Gayeton is a filmmaker, photographer and writer. Since the early '90s, he has created award-winning work at the boundaries of traditional and converging media for AOL, MSN, MTV, Napster, Electronic Arts, Vivendi, Ubisoft, National Geographic and PBS. His most recent documentary aired on HBO.

Their production company, Rumplefarm, is producing the Lexicon project.

Limited edition prints of Gayeton's work will be available for sale at Brews and Bites for the Bounty, with all proceeds being donated to Petaluma Bounty. The Highway Poets, a Petaluma-based folk, acoustic and soul band, will provide music.

Tickets are $20, which includes pizza from Rosso Pizzeria, Bounty Farm-grown salad and a drink token. Children ages 6 and younger will be admitted free of charge.

Event tickets may be purchased in advance through Brown Paper Tickets or via the Petaluma Bounty website at www.petalumabounty.org. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Founded in 2006, Petaluma Bounty is a community-based nonprofit that helps people grow their own healthy food, redistributes surplus food and provides affordable fresh food to low-income families and seniors.

The Bounty's core programs include a network of community gardens throughout Petaluma to promote food self-sufficiency and strengthen community; Bounty Hunters, a community food gleaning program that collects fresh, surplus food from backyard gardens, farms and businesses and distributes it to food pantries and senior centers; the Bounty Farm, an educational urban farm growing sustainably-farmed food and teaching sustainable agriculture to students, interns and the community; the Bounty Box Food Club, weekly boxes of organic fruits and vegetables sold at wholesale prices to low-income families with retail boxes also available; and Backyard Bounty, our newest program that helps people build new Victory Gardens or expand their existing garden.

Lagunitas is located at 1280 N. McDowell Blvd. in Petaluma. Visit www.lagunitas.com for information.
