Looking back

EDITOR: Reading Don Bennett's recent article on the Butter & Egg Days Parade I was reminded that the late Bill Soberanes, who wrote for the Petaluma Argus-Courier for 50 years, often promoted the idea of bringing back the parade.

Bill was known as "Mr. Petaluma" because of his lifetime promotion of his hometown. I remember going to the Butter & Egg Day Parade with Bill back in the 30s' when we were young kids and Petaluma was a small town.

Bill was the recipient of the Good Egg award soon after the revival of the parade.

As you might already know, Bill founded the World Wrist Wrestling Championships, which put Petaluma on the map, along with being the Egg Capitol of the World.

As an adult Bill never forgot the past hometown events. I think he helped in his way to bring back the parade he remembered.
