Petaluma Bestsellers: Sci-fi oddity takes top spot from Pulitzer-winner

Here are the Top 10 bestselling books in Petaluma|

The top-selling titles at Petaluma’s Copperfield’s Book Store, for the week of Aug. 6-Aug. 12, 2018.

Nothing lasts forever.

After three weeks atop the local Adult Fiction and Nonfiction bestseller list, Andrew Sean Greer’s Pulitzer-winning comic novel “Less” has been dethroned, forced down a spot to No. 2 by Edgar Cantero’s giddy science fiction confection “This Body’s Not Big Enough For Both Of Us,” the new No. 1 bestseller in Petaluma. Cantero’s win is in part due to his appearance last week at Copperfield’s, where numerous copies of his outrageous new book were sold and signed.

Other highlights of the Adult Fiction and Nonfiction list include the arrival of Anne Tyler’s “Clock Dance” (No. 9), a characteristically quirky novel about an elderly woman so thoroughly trained to be kind and helpful she crosses the country to take care of a lonely girl while her mother is in the hospital, in spite of the fact that the request was actually a wrong number meant for someone else. Also of note are the return of two books that briefly appeared on the list weeks ago: Gail Honeyman’s charmer of a novel “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” (No. 3) and Tara Westover’s striking memoir of abuse and renewal “Educated” (No. 4).

On the Kids and Young Adults list, Ed Vere’s acclaimed picture book “How to Be a Lion,” riding high in No. 1 for five consecutive weeks, has been eased down a spot to No. 2 by Vera Brosgol’s “Be Prepared,” the persistently popular graphic novel that has been a presence on the list for months now, and just last week had climbed to No. 3.
