Farmers market season in full swing

Produce, art, live music and meals at local farmers markets|

Farm fresh produce is as abundant as ever in Petaluma as the city’s three farmers markets are now in full swing through the summer.

More than just a place to get your fruits and veggies, each market offers an assortment of products ranging from eggs, meat and honey to flowers, plants, snacks and hot meals and beverages.

Shoppers: don’t forget to bring a reusable bag.

Petaluma Farmers Market

The Petaluma Farmers Market is held from 2 to 5:30 p.m. every Saturday through Nov. 21 in Walnut Park, corner of Petaluma Boulevard and D Street.

The largest of the three outdoor markets in Petaluma, it offers more than 50 booths selling produce, eggs, local meats, vegetable starts, cheeses, baked goods, hot foods, live music and activities for children.

East-Side Farmers Market

The East-Side Farmers Market is held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday year-round rain or shine in the parking lot of the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd.

The Tuesday market offers fresh produce, meats, plants, flowers and a variety of hot foods and beverages.

There’s also activities for kids.

Wednesday Evening Farmers Market

The Wednesday Evening Farmers Market started its summer season last week. It’s held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday through Aug. 26 on Second Street in the Theatre District. Second Street closes to traffic and public parking a few hours before the market starts, so a good tip is to use the nearby parking garage.

Shoppers will find produce, meats and sweet treats, along with hot meal items, arts and crafts, informational booths, and live music.

Each of the Petaluma farmers markets accept CalFresh EBT. Visit the market’s informational both for details.
