Marshall Tucker Band
The Sonoma County Fair kicks off its Holidaze! celebration (marking a different holiday every day of the fair) with an Easter Day performance (go with it people, and do wear your bonnets) by the Marshall Tucker Band. Train Wreck Junction
The members of Train Wreck Junction have referred to themselves as “a box full of scoundrels.” It kind of fits, their being a locally-based band of country-loving rascals whose genesis was being thrown out of a restaurant for singing “Fifteen Tons” at the top of their lungs. They didn’t even mind getting the boot from the restaurant. Of course, they were pretty drunk at the time. Keyboard master Jimmy Smith has been playing the piano since he was five years old. So, you know, by now, he’s really, really good. Manzanita Falls
A Manzanita Falls concert is the best therapy session you ever had, except that instead of you being the one on the couch, you get to sit in the audience and watch four other people (the band) pour out their hearts, and they are still saying exactly what you think and feel, describing the way you hurt, and love and hope and . . . wow, sorry, went a little deep there.
Anyway, you get the point, right? Manzanita Falls’ music is, as they say, “dramatic.”
This weekend, they will appear at the Phoenix Theater for the official CD release celebration for their new album ‘Abilene,’ and they will be joined by other top local bands: Trebuchet, Lungs and Limbs, and Heartwarmer. The Phoenix Theater, 201 E, Washington St., 8 p.m. $10 cover.
