Four days of music and fun in Petaluma|

THURSDAY

ROSETOWN SOUL and R&B REVIEW

This celebration of the North Bay spirit will unfold at The Big Easy with great music, much dancing, and plenty of food and drink. It’s a fundraiser for fire relief, because our neighbors still need our help, and because there is no better way to defeat sadness than with joy, happiness and a little generosity! And also because these folks know how to play soul music. The Big Easy, 128 American Alley. 8 p.m. BigEasyPetaluma.com.

FRIDAY

FESTIVAL OF TREES

Presented annually by the Fabulous Women of Sonoma County, the Festival of Trees is a grand holiday party blended with an exhibition and auction of a large number of whimsically decorated trees. The event raises money for specifically selected nonprofits, to be announced on night one of the two-day event. Bearing the 2017 theme “Comfort and Joy,” the Festival of Trees takes place Friday, Dec. 1 from 6-9 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 2, from 3-9 p.m. Hotel Petaluma, 205 Kentucky St. For details, visit Thefabulouswomen.com.

tUnE-yArDs

The outrageously innovative pop-electronic-vocal “project” known as “tUnE-yArDs” (that’s how the name is spelled out), is the brainchild of New England musician Merrill Garbus. Blending all manner of techno-tools (looping, synth, lo-fi percussion, ukulele riffs) with complex and jaw-dropping vocals, tUnE-yArDs - with bassist Nate Brenner - comes to the Mystic in support of the upcoming album “I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life.” Opening will be Linafornia. Mystic Theatre, 21 N. Petaluma Blvd. 8:30 p.m. Tickets $18 in advance, $23 day of show. MysticThea-tre.com.

Broadway Holiday Spectacular

Blending the best of Broadway and the happiest tunes of the season, Transcendence Theatre Company celebrates Christmas with a dazzling song-and-dance spectacular. With five performances in total, the Broadway-style show launches Friday night at 7:30, then continues with 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. shows on Saturday and Sunday. Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, 50 Mark West Springs Road. LutherBurbankCenter.org.

SATURDAY

Ramuun

This musical duo channels what it calls “a unique Hip Hop/fusion power from the future.” In performance, their story unfolds like a superhero graphic novel epic, musically underscored with sonic synchronistic gems. Phoenix Theater, 201 E. Washington. Openers are Jackson Whalen and Honeycomb. 8 p.m. $12-$15. ThePhoenixTheater.com.

SUNDAY

Invitational BlueGrass Jam

If you play bluegrass and live in or around the Bay Area, you’ve already heard of Twin Oaks Roadhouse’s Invitational Bluegrass Jam, taking place the first and third Sunday of every month. Players are encouraged to show up early, 3-5 p.m., to do a little traditional jamming before the big, surprise-packed show starts at 5 pm. Twin Oaks Roadhouse, 5745 Old Redwood Hwy., Penngrove. No cover. TwinOaksRoadhouse.com.

Music in the Mansion

Cinnabar Theater’s annual holiday concert - descriptively and accurately called Music in the Mansion - is exactly that: gorgeous music performed in one of Petaluma’s exquisite Victorian mansions. This year it’s a violin serenade with Claire-Jeanne Martin on violin, accompanied by pianist Nancy Hayashibara. This dynamic duo will perform a range of pieces from operatic arias and café ballads to gypsy tangos, snippets of atmospheric movie scores and, of course, sacred songs of the season. 7:30 p.m. 920 D St. $25 in advance $30 at the mansion door, $15 for youth in advance, $20 at the door.
