A Santa Rosa woman was arrested after police allegedly found her driving under the influence while her 4-month-old son rode unrestrained in the backseat last Thursday.

It was almost 11:30 p.m. on July 17 when Petaluma police officer Corie Joerger saw Stacie Loomis, 30, of Santa Rosa, driving her Volvo station wagon at 60 mph on Petaluma Boulevard North, which has a speed limit of 45 mph. After pulling the Volvo over, Joerger saw the infant laying facedown in the backseat; he was not buckled into either of the two car seats that were inside the vehicle. Loomis said she thought the baby’s father had put the child in a car seat when she picked him up, and was unaware he was riding unrestrained.

Joerger conducted a field sobriety test because it appeared Loomis was intoxicated. After Loomis failed the test, she was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and felony child endangerment.

She was booked in the Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $50,000. The child was released to the custody of his father.
