Fatal car accident on D Street extension

A fatal single-car crash on the D Street extension near San Antonio Road was reported by the California Highway Patrol late Thursday morning.

The driver was moving at a high rate of speed while attempting to illegally pass another car, and lost control of the vehicle. The car flipped at least once, leaving a 100-foot trail of debris along the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, but their identity has not been released.
