Sprinkles do little to help drought-stricken Sonoma County

The first rain of the month Wednesday did little but moisten the sidewalks with just 0.01 inch of rain reported at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport.

The National Weather Service predicts more showers through tonight.

State Climatologist Michael Anderson said Wednesday that it would take something of the order of the "March Miracle" storm of 1991 to save 2014 from matching 2013's disastrously dry conditions.

Last January saw 1.16 inches of rain at the airport; the average rainfall for the month is 5.93 inches.
