Police arrest five on suspected theft charges

Petaluma police arrested four men on suspicion of a variety of theft charges Monday in the wake of a spike in property crimes in the city, authorities said.

Among those arrested Monday:

Michael Fowler, 21, of Petaluma is suspected of jumping off the roof of a Bodega Avenue home and trying to steal a resident's bike, Lt. Tim Lyons said.

Robert Davis, 53, of Petaluma is suspected of locking himself in an Orinda Avenue house and trying to flee out the back when officers arrived to investigate a felony warrant for theft, Lyons said.

Police suspect Daniel Lemos, 20, of Petaluma tried to steal a car on the 100-block of Second Street, but was interrupted by the owner, Lyons said. Officers tracked him to Putnam Plaza downtown and arrested him, he said.

Also at the plaza, officers arrested Michael Solomon, 39, a transient who is wanted in San Bernardino County for a property crime, Lyons said.

Richard Batson, 35, a transient, was arrested at a campsite near the railroad tracks on Hopper Street on suspicion of violating his parole on a prior burglary case in Humbold County, Lyons said.
