Friday crash left 200 households without power

220 households were without power Friday afternoon after a woman crashed her car into a power pole on Skillman Lane near Liberty Road.

The crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. and left the pole hanging over Skillman Lane, according to CHP reports. The driver, Christian Kahn, 24, of Petaluma, reportedly lost control of her car while driving down a straight portion of Skillman Lane and crashed into the wooden utility pole, causing it to snap and block both lanes of traffic.

Kahn got out of her vehicle, according to witnesses at the scene, and was observed walking over live power lines. She then fled the area on foot, witnesses said.

Meanwhile, the CHP, firefighters and PG&E arrived at the scene.

PG&E de-energized the lines and had restored power to most households by about 2 p.m., said spokesperson Brittany McKannay. However, 20 households closest to the accident remained without power until about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, with crews working into the night to restore electricity to the area.

CHP Officer Kimberly Lemons confirmed that Kahn was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
