Walnut Park improvements underway

Saturday was another busy day at Walnut Park as the Petaluma Service Alliance continued its ongoing renovation of the park. The group convened to repaint the 27 benches which surround the gazebo.

Given the size of the project, the group sought the help of O'Brien Painting. Before long, the tarps were spread, benches prepped, and members were painting.

By the end of the day, the benches were bright green.

The service alliance has also taken out the old vegetation around the gazebo and replaced it with a patriotic array of red roses, white rockrose cistus and blue lavender with the help of Mike Cook of Firma Design.

The Petaluma Service Alliance is also working with veterans groups to plant around the Vietnam Veterans Monument, which is being restored after the memorial plaque was stolen.

That plaque is set to be replaced at the end of the month, on May 30.
