Former Petaluma and Casa players sought

Former Petaluma and Casa Grande high school football players are being sought to play in an alumni game on Oct. 16.

The game is scheduled to be played at Petaluma High a day after the Egg Bowl between the Petaluma and Casa Grande varsity teams.

Players interested in participating should call 481-2015 or e-mail ed@alumniathleticsusa.com.

The game will be a benefit for Danny Cox, a 2010 Petaluma High School graduate who was injured in a freak swimming accident at Lake Tahoe on Aug. 10.

A wave from a passing boat pushed Cox' head into the sand as he was diving in shallow water, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.

Cox was a key member of the Sonoma County League champion Petaluma High track team and one of the North Bay's premier long jumpers. He was planning to attend the fire safety program at SRJC in the fall.
