10 PVH doctors receive award

Ten Petaluma Valley Hospital physicians have been named recipients of St. Joseph Health System-Sonoma County's Excellence in Patient Satisfaction award.

The recipients are Lance Barlas, Jonathan Choe, Julie Clark, Stephen Denigris, Robert Harf, Anthony Kosinski, David Rudnick, Eiler Sommerhaug, Cesar Veluz and Roger Weeks.

"The treatment you deliver here is a source of pride for our hospital and this community, wrote president and CEO Kevin Klockenga of SJHS-Sonoma County in a letter to each honoree.

This award honors physicians who rank in the top 10 percent of patient satisfaction scores throughout the country. These scores were measured by the Avatar survey, a post-discharge tool that SJHS-Sonoma County uses to measure patients' feedback.

In recently tabulated 2010 surveys, patients consistently commended these physicians for superior service in showing concern and sensitivity to their needs, answering questions about their health, providing them with opportunities to give input about their health-care decisions, being attentive to their needs and explaining their illness or treatment in a way they could understand.

Forty-five physicians from Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital - which, like PVH, is operated by SJHS-Sonoma County - also received the award. All of the recipients were given award certificates in conjunction with National Doctors' Day, officially observed each year on March 30 throughout the nation to honor physicians' service to their communities. Festivities for Doctors' Day took place on March 25 at SRMH and on March 30 at PVH.
