Celebrating an Angel in the Outfield

The Petaluma community will celebrate the short life of an "Angel in the Outfield," with a party and fundraising event Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Petaluma Valley Athletic Club.

Proceeds from the event will establish a baseball scholarship in the name of Trevor Smith to help players who can't afford the registration fee and related expenses play Little League baseball.

Smith, a Petaluma American Little League player, was killed in a traffic accident in June.

Sponsored by the Petaluma Fabulous Women, the event will include food, beverages, a raffle and activities for all ages, including a dunk tank, pitching machine, basketball challenge and carnival games.

Budderball the Clown will offer face painting and balloon art. Clover the Cow will be on hand to spread love, joy and ice cream.

There will be a special appearance by the Petaluma National Little League All-Star team that finished third in the world in the Little League World Series.

Persons attending are asked to bring a side dish or salad to share, but are requested to avoid bringing any food containing avocado, bananas or kiwi because of allergies of some of those participating.

To donate a raffle or auction item, contact Shelly Coons at 773-4884.
