Petaluma police arrested two Sacramento residents Saturday night after they apparently stole a car and led officers on a short chase.

Henry Gomez Flores, 32, and Roxanne Maryse Cate, 23, were arrested about 10:30 p.m. at Caulfield Lane and Payran Street, where Flores pulled to a stop, Sgt. Ed Crosby said.

A short while earlier, police received a report of a car that had been stolen from in front of a convenience store in the 800 block of Petaluma Boulevard North, Crosby said. An officer spotted the car on Ellis Street and tried to pull it over.

'A short vehicle pursuit ensued as the driver attempted to evade by running red lights and driving at excessive speed,' Crosby said in a statement.

Flores and Cate surrendered without further incident at Caulfield and Payran.

Both were arrested on suspicion of stealing the vehicle. Flores was also booked on charges of felony evasion and drunken driving. Flores was being held on $30,000 bail and Cate on $10,000 bail at Sonoma County Jail.
