PPD warns of spike in thefts from cars

Petaluma was plagued by a rash of thefts from vehicles between Sunday night and Monday morning, the Petaluma Police Department said.

A total of five thefts were reported between Aug. 30 and Sept. 1, most of which took place on the east side of Petaluma. Thefts were reported on Wren Drive, Daniel Drive, Bordeaux Drive, Granite Valley Way and Fallbrook Lane.

Police did not find evidence of forced entry at any of the crime scenes. In four cases, the cars were left unlocked and in one case, a window was left opened.

Police are reminding residents to keep their cars locked and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Petaluma Police Department at 778-4373.
