A police chase involving a young Penngrove man reached triple digit speeds on Tuesday.

About 3:30 p.m., CHP Officer Robert Powers was patrolling the Cotati Grade on his motorcycle when he saw an Acura coming at a high rate of speed. After clocking the car at 110 mph on radar, the officer attempted to pull over the driver, who made evasive maneuvers to avoid police at speeds in excess of 90 mph as he raced south on Highway 101.

The driver cut across four lanes of traffic to take the Petaluma Boulevard North exit, passing cars on the shoulder and running a red light. The driver finally surrendered on Stony Point Road and identified himself as Austin Stephenson, 18, of Penngrove.

He was arrested for evading police and a series of moving violations.
