Korean War veteran Mervyn Sartori dies

Mervyn A. Sartori died on Oct. 25, 2014 at the age of 84.

Sartaro was born, reared and educated in Petaluma. During the Korean Conflict, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan.

As a part of a pioneering Petaluma dairy family, he eagerly returned to dairy and beef ranching and life on the family ranch. He married Carol in Petaluma and together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. He was an avid NASCAR and 49er fan and had a great love for his ranch. He enjoyed entertaining at his party barn and loved running the bar.

He was a member of: United Ancient Order of Druids, Harmony Grove No. 38; Petaluma Outdoorsmen; Sonoma-Marin Swiss Club; and Sonoma-Marin Italian Club.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sartori of Petaluma; children, MarLynn Sartori Millick of Windsor, Pamela Christianson of Monterey and Rocky Sartori of Petaluma; grandchildren; and sibling, Donnie Sartori.

Friends and family are invited to attend the memorial mass at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31 at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma or Druids Scholarship Fund.
