An 85-year-old Petaluma man who disappeared Tuesday on his way to a nearby store, was found safe Tuesday evening after apparently driving his car to Marin County, police said.

A family member told police they had last seen Donald Taylor Tuesday just before 2 p.m. when he drove away from his house on the 300 block of North McDowell Boulevard. His family told police that Taylor was heading for a destination that was only about 10 minutes from his home, but that he never arrived. Taylor reportedly had several medical conditions and when he didn’t return home, family members became worried and called police, said Petaluma Police Lt. Tara Salizzoni.

Taylor apparently drove south where he was involved in a car accident, Salizzoni said. A family member was contacted by Tiburon Police and was able to go to Marin and pick Taylor up. It was not known how he got to Marin or the severity of the car accident, but it was not believed to be serious, Salizzoni said.
